New research grant for Gall Bladder Mucoceles

GREAT NEWS!!! We are absolutely delighted to announce a new clinical research project which has been launched in October 2022 by the BSAVA with partial funding from Andrew and Wendy Mooney (of BTLL). We have been in discussions with the BSAVA (British Small Animal Veterinary Association) since February and are extremely excited that a new Research Grant has been offered to support the research of Gall Bladder Mucoceles (GBM) in Border Terriers. GBM can affect any breed of dog at any stage of its life but unfortunately for our beloved Border Terriers, the statistics are against them. A disproportionate percentage of dogs presenting this condition at veterinary practices are Border Terriers. For further information have a look at the BSAVA website detailing the research which will commence in 2023.

We are continuing with our fundraising for GBM and although we are not permitted, at this stage, to disclose details of another research project which we have been told about, it will be starting in January 2023 and Border Terrier LifeLine will be donating to this study. We have already raised funds for this and we will continue to support this and other GBM research as and when they need help.

We know there are many victims of Gall Bladder Mucocele in the BT community and we hope that owners who have experience of this serious condition or know of others who have, will join us in our fundraising.

If you wish to donate to the GBM fundraising then this can easily be done by clicking on one of our many “Donate” buttons on the website or email wendy@btll.co.uk
